RBC Heritage Picks

Making Money in Harbour Town

First of all, congratulations to Mr. Scottie Scheffler. Nothing but respect for the 25 year old that looks like a father of 4 already. I also will not hold this win against him as the loon Masters blog was still able to secure 6.2 units, even without Cam Smith winning. All around The Masters did not disappoint and it was incredible to watch as well as gamble on. Hoping I get the chance to walk those sacred grounds again, but onto more important things; the loon is nearly touching the sun. I’m drowning in the model and could not be seeing the golf course clearer. Our bets are going to be great again. I can already feel it. Now get hyped for the RBC Heritage, not a joke of a golf tournament, it actually boasts a shockingly strong field and I am excited for it especially after the joy that Augusta brings to everyone in golf.

RBC Heritage is played at The Harbour Town golf links in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The course is awesome, there is a reason this field is strong and that is that it is played on a beautiful course and the jacket given to the winner may even be cooler than the green jacket. It looks like Clark Griswold was given the opportunity to design his own version of the Masters jacket and I respect it as such. Harbour Town is a par 71 measuring about 7,100 yards and is known for its mossy oaks, its small greens, tight fairways, and bunkers surrounded by wood that have been known to cause serious problems for some players. At this course there is a great emphasis on putting your shots in the right spots and not as much emphasis on distance. We need to look for guys that control the golf ball well, that have had success on this course or similar courses, and for guys that know how to work their way around a small green.

Before we get into the RBC Heritage picks it is worth paying homage to the gentlemen that secured us units last week. We send thanks to Shane Lowry top 10, Will Zalatoris top 10, JT to beat Jon Rahm and Tiger Woods to make the cut (absolute lock). God it was fun to have the big cat back on the course. In terms of my own units I washed on my normal picks but tossed down 5 units on extra Masters bets in Vegas. To be transparent I absolutely hammered bets for Cam Smith to come back and win. It would’ve been awesome. Alright. Prepare your units.

Unit Recap:

Loon (Golf): Won 6.2 units on The Masters, Up 2.55 Units on the season.

Magz (Golf): Lost 5 units on The Masters, Up 30.55 Units on the season.

Top 20 – Webb Simpson +170. Webb didn’t come through at The Masters but he loves Harbour Town and the course sets up well for his strengths. He can hit his spots on the course and manage his way around small greens. Not to mention he won this event in 2020 and placed T9 in 2021.

Top 20 – Tom Hoge +270. I had to throw this pick in here because it is a great bet. Hoge is 12th in strokes gained on approach in this field and 11th in scrambling. Hoge can play the type of golf needed to win here so this kind of value on him for a top 20 is absurd. Support the North Dakota boy and win yourself some money.

Top 10 – Sungjae Im +325. Believe me. This bet makes me want to throw myself off a cliff. I absolutely hate betting on Sungjae, but it truly looks like he is set to go back on a heater. He played well at The Masters and finished T13 here in 2021. When his approach game is on he is tough to compete with, we’re back in on him. Let’s go Sungjae.

Winner – Matthew Fitzpatrick +1500. Matt Fitzpatrick looks like someone that would never visit Harbour Town on his own wishes and that is exactly what makes me think he will win this week. The course suits him great and his odds could be worse. Overall this is a safer play and this out of the ordinary tournament along with the odd jacket just screams Matt Fitz.

Matchup – Chris Kirk over S.W. Kim EV. Chris Kirk finished T7 here last year and has been playing great golf this year. Si Woo Kim has also been playing well but is fresh off The Masters and I think Kirk comes into this tournament hungrier. I also like Luke List over Kokrak, but Kirk seems to be the guy here. Let’s go.
