Picks For The Valero Texas Open

The 100th!

Before we talk about absolutely anything at all. Tiger Woods practiced at Augusta yesterday. Keep that in mind. The goat is ready to go, get excited. Carry on.

Ladies and gentlemen, golf is back. In all reality it’s still been going on for the last couple weeks, Scottie Scheffler even snagged the world number 1 spot while the tour was on break! Holy hell Scottie way to go! I have not watched or gambled on a lick of golf lately, my units and my time have been getting tossed at March Madness and let me be the first to tell you, I may have won money on college basketball, but I truly lost some years of my life watching those big men try to put a ball in a hoop. Abysmal free throw display from everyone involved. I’ve never played basketball in my life and I’m better at the line than these jokers. The point is though, that not only is golf back, but we are back and we NEED to secure some units before the big week next week… If you do not know what is happening next week kindly stop reading this and jump into the nearest pond.

The Valero Texas Open is quite the tournament. First of all, it’s located in Texas. Second of all, it is the final tune up before The Masters. Most of what makes this tournament a big deal is the latter of those statements, but we don’t hate on Texas here. Maybe Iowa, we can throw some serious shade at Iowa, but Texas is part of America and it raised Jordan Spieth during college. The Oak course measures 7,438 yards and is a par 72. This is a tough approach shot course designed by Greg Norman (shark, disavow) and Sergio Garcia. This means we are going to put a high emphasis on strokes gained on approach as well as being able to hit greens in regulation. Just going to put this out there right now, it’s happening this week, we are going back to the well and will place a wager on Corey Conners. It is going to be absolutely antagonizing watching our guy out there but this is his place, this is his type of course, honestly he might miss the cut! Still betting him. Overall the big takeaway from this week is that the Valero Texas Open is a good tune up event for those big names such as Spieth, Conners, and McIlroy; even Mr. Saudi himself, Bryson Dechambeau is in the field. TPC San Antonio and The Oak Course put together a good tournament and I will definitely be watching—when there isn’t basketball on.

The Face of The Valero Texas Open.

The last bets we placed were on The Players Championship. Beast participated and I wanted to but just couldn’t find the results of all his wagers (probably didn’t win many). It was a tough week. Loon and Magz hit Cam Smith top 10 but other than that it was tough. Lot of blood shed. Time to hop back on the winning wagon.

Unit Recap:

Loon (Golf): Down 0.25 Units on The Players, Down 2.15 Units on Season

Magz (Golf): Down 2.2 Units on The Players, Up 38.05 Units on Season

Top 20 – Chris Kirk +170. Wow, do we have some value here. I mean not a huge payout but great odds for a guy that has a great history at this event. Kirk has 3 top 10’s here and is poised for another one with the great golf he has been playing lately. Lock it up.

Top 10 – Corey Conners +190. Our guy! Corey! I almost dislike this bet so much that I want to max bet it. If that makes sense. Corey is borderline impossible to watch play the game of golf when you are betting on him and that is exactly the electricity I need this weekend. (Might place a tiny wager on our boy missing the cut as well, just in case).

Winner – Si-Woo Kim +3500. Got a feeling about Si-Woo going low this weekend, which he will need to do in a big way if he wants to win. This is a tough event to win given how many birdies need to be made but I think Kim gets it done this weekend. He is a decent approach player that likes to attack par 5’s. Let’s go.

Matchup – Hojgaard over Theegala +105. Theegala has been playing a lot of golf and been getting a lot of attention after some of his potential was shown to all of us. Feels like a good spot for Hojgaard to make more birdies and play more aggressive with less eyes on him.

Have a great weekend and next time you see an article from me, it’ll be about the best event in golf. The Masters.
