My Take On PrizePicks

As a degenerate gambler myself, I’m always looking for the next best way to try and make some coin. From what I’ve seen on social media, PrizePicks seems to be exactly what I’m looking for. Before I get too deep into this, there’s probably a few of you wondering what PrizePicks even is, so let me catch you up.

PrizePicks is fairly new to the Daily Fantasy Sports community (actually launching in 2018). They’re a platform that focuses on prop wagers and simplicity for users, two things that all gamblers LOVE. PrizePicks is currently available in about 30 states and you can sign up within minutes by downloading the app on your phone and funding your account with your debit card.

When I first logged in to PrizePicks I was genuinely surprised. Typically when you see an app being promoted by “influencers” on social media, it’s too good to be true. However, I truly don’t think that’s the case here. The interface is so clean and so simple. The potential for growth is there, and from what I hear and read the customer service is outstanding. For example, when Odell went down in the SuperBowl all wagers lost because he was unable to perform were refunded. Of course this could be their way of attracting new users, but I have to admit it’s really enticing.

So how does the betting actually work?

As a user you have the option to wager on what PrizePicks calls a “Flex Play” or a “Power Play”. Essentially each option is similar to the traditional parlay that we’re all too familiar with, however with PrizePicks you only have the option to parlay prop bets. The Flex Play is nice because if one, or sometimes two of your bets don’t hit, you don’t lose all your money. In fact, if you miss your parlay by one play you will indeed still make some money. How can you not be intrigued by that?? For those users looking for a bigger payout, you can roll the dice with a Power Play. No second chances here, you have to nail all your picks. The reward will be 3x-10x your wager, depending on how many legs you placed. Hand up, I lost a Power Play last night due solely in part to Andrew Wiggins. I had a 4 leg Power Play with Steph Curry over 22.5 points, Terance Mann over 11.5 points, Connor McDavid over 3.5 SOG and of course Wiggins to score more than 15.5 points. His subpar 13 points ruined what would have been 10x ($200) on my $20.

In summary, I’ve had the app for all of 3 days but I’m hooked. As a seasoned gambler I know the odds are never in my favor. But with that being said, I also know I’m not the only one who loses every parlay I place on the last leg. All jokes aside, the house literally always wins so never gamble more than you can afford. But if you’re like me and you’d like to add a little excitement to your Tuesday night, I’ll leave my referral code below and you too can give PrizePicks a shot.
