Super Wild Card Weekend: Picks and Predictions for Sunday

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Noon CST

(Bucs -7, O/U 47)

The first matchup on Sunday features the #2 seed Tampa Bay Bucs and the lowest seed in the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles. The GOAT faces off against Jalen Hurts in his first playoff game. The veteran QB finished the 2021 campaign with his most passing yards in a season, 5,316, an accomplishment good enough for 3rd all time- and he did it at age 44. The Bucs will be without Antonio Brown (cut after his week 17 shenanigans), Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, Mike Evans, and Cyril Greyson. Will Tom have enough weapons to win the game and cover? These two teams actually faced off in week 6, where the Eagles back door covered, scoring the only point in the 4th quarter and completing a 2 point conversion to leave gamblers with a Bucs ticket kicking and screaming. If you look at the rest of the season for the Eagles, they finished 9-8, but did they have any impressive wins? Not really. We like the Bucs to win, if you have to bet a side, I’d recommend the Bucs. However, I’ll just have over 47 on my card this Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers at Dallas Cowboys 3:30 CST

(Cowboys -3.5, O/U 51)

This could be the best game of the weekend. These two teams have a mix of youth and experience, it’s all about who shows up and brings their best game. The 49ers punched their ticket with a week 18 victory over their division rivals the LA Rams, while the Cowboys have won 5 of their last 6 games. I have no play in this game at 3.5, but if you can get Cowboys -3 at -110 or better, I’d roll the dice with it. Jimmy Garapolo is off the injury report ahead of Sunday’s game, so we expect him to be able to sling it down the field and keep this one close. Deebo Samuel for the 49ers and Michael Parsons are two young stars you should watch for in this game to make some big plays for their club.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs 7:15 CST

(Chiefs -12.5, O/U 46.5)

While this game has the biggest point spread of the weekend, you don’t want to miss this one. Coach Mike Tomlin is historically a great coach as an underdog, and even if the Chiefs win this one easily, it could be the final game of Big Ben’s first ballot hall of fame career. He was quoted earlier in the week saying “We don’t have a chance” and “Let’s just go in and have some fun”, but don’t be surprised if Ben lets it fly and finds Dionte Johnson in the endzone for a couple scores today. I’ve got no play in this one, just going to watch it and enjoy one more game of Big Ben. Make sure to keep an eye on our twitter @LoonStateSports, in case we make any last minute plays on this one. If we get to Steelers +13, we might need to deploy units.
